This global functional fitness race series is designed to challenge you with a combination of workouts that will truly put your strength and endurance to the test.

First, What Is HYROX? 

HYROX is a functional fitness race that combines elements of CrossFit, running and weightlifting. The event consists of eight functional fitness workouts, performed back-to-back with no rest in between. 

HYROX is more than just a race. The workouts are designed to test your strength, endurance, power and agility. The HYROX community is one of athletes who come together to challenge themselves and support each other along the way—something we can relate to at SUDU!

Who Is HYROX For? 

If you think HYROX is reserved only for the fittest of the fit, you will be surprised. 

HYROX is open to athletes of all fitness levels and ages. The event may look and sound intimidating to newcomers, but it’s designed to be achievable even if you’re a fitness newbie. So, whether you're an experienced CrossFitter or just starting your fitness journey, there's a spot for you at HYROX. 

Remember, the focus is on your personal achievement rather than competition—again, something we can fully get behind. 

How to Take Part in HYROX 

From Madrid to Manchester, from Poznań to Paris, HYROX is held in many cities around the world throughout the year. 

To be part of this epic fitness challenge, you'll need to register on the official HYROX website for an event near you. Once you've done that, you'll receive more information about the event, including the location and workout schedule. 

But, before you lace up your running shoes and put on your gloves—btw, lifting straps are not allowed at HYROX!—you may need to be aware of what a typical training programme for HYROX looks like. 

How to Prepare for HYROX 

Preparing for HYROX requires a balanced approach that combines strength training, endurance training and mobility work. 

Here are some tips to help you get race-ready: 

  • Focus on building a strong foundation of functional fitness movements, like squats, deadlifts, pull-ups and push-ups.
  • Incorporate endurance training into your routine, such as running, rowing or cycling.
  • Prioritise mobility work to make sure you can move freely and efficiently during the race.
  • Once you get your hands on the workout schedule, start practicing them to get used to the movements and pacing—muscle memory is everything!
  • Stay hydrated during training sessions and fuel your body with a balanced, nutritious diet that empowers you to perform at your best.
  • Give your body the time it needs to rest and recover between workouts, to prevent injuries and optimise your performance. 

By integrating these components, you’ll have a well-rounded training programme that prepares you for the diverse challenges of HYROX.
